While the U.S. is gearing up for the final stretch towards Election Day, a terrorist incident in the Netherlands last week underscored the need for a serious reduction of mass immigration on both sides of the Atlantic. In yet another of the now infamous “lone wolf” knife attacks haunting the Old Continent, a 22-year-old man started stabbing random people with two large knives shortly after 8PM on Thursday, killing one and wounding another. As is the norm these days, the media, and the Dutch public at large, just shrugged their shoulders and moved on.
The attack happened near the iconic Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam, named, ironically, after the famous 15th-century Christian humanist whose teachings include pacifism and religious tolerance.
Upon stabbing and wounding a Swiss national in an underground parking garage nearby, the perpetrator walked upstairs in the direction of the bridge and fatally stabbed a 32-year-old German man residing in Rotterdam who happened to be rollerblading there. Panic broke out, people started running, and the offender ran after them, shouting Allahu Akbar along the way. He then went inside an art exhibition, where folks tried to defend themselves with chairs, random artifacts in the vicinity being the only self-defense objects available to the Dutch.
Unfortunately for Captain Jihad, a kick boxing coach happened to be holding an outdoor training session right by the bridge and watched it all happen in real time. He chased after the perpetrator into the exhibition and knocked the living daylights out of him with a piece of fitness equipment. The other patrons then pitched in with their chairs of self-defense, and the perp lost consciousness before being arrested.
As so often, the most illuminating aspect about the incident is its treatment by the media and politicians after the fact. In typical fashion, National Dutch daily Algemeen Dagblad reported: “Witnesses say that the suspect, a 22-year-old man from [the Dutch town of] Amersfoort, shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’. The police is considering this in its investigation, but cannot say if that means it’s assuming an act of terrorism. Prime Minister Dick Schoof has stated he understood it might have been a mentally-disturbed person.”
Another widely read online news outlet informed its readers that Allahu Akbar “is often uttered by Muslims while praying, but has in the past also been shouted during attacks committed by extremist Muslims. The police has not yet made any statements about a possible motive.”
Well, one understands and respects the reluctance by the media to assume a motive before the facts surrounding a case are released. But unless this Random Dutch Dude from Amersfoort was peacefully praying to Allah while incidentally committing serial robbery at the same time, it can be induced from the facts at hand that Jihad was at least a motive here.
Note also the establishment’s reaching for the “mental illness” card. The Dutch use, as is their wont, a quintessentially Dutch word (“verward”) a satisfactory English translation for which is lacking. “Confused” comes closest literally, but “mentally disturbed” covers the intent. You get the idea.
And here we have yet another lone wolf who undoubtedly is quite verward. Perhaps he’s one of those sons of immigrants who grew up in the Netherlands and has been torn between two cultures all his life. Daddy told him to marry a devout Muslim girl, but those Dutch chicks sans inhibitions are sure tempting the flesh!
Or perhaps he traveled halfway around the world only a few years back, much of it on foot, from a war-torn hellhole to a country which in its serene peace and exorbitant wealth is so radically different from his own he feels like he might as well have landed on another planet.
Either way, insofar Islam is a part of the mix in his adopted homeland, it’s only as a consequence of people like himself slowly but surely gaining demographical ground there: A whole 27% of the people in that country are now foreign-born or have at least one foreign-born parent. The other 73%, and presumably many among the 27% too, want nothing to do with Islam, period. And the virtue-signaling few on the left who say they do tend to live in gentrified red-stone neighborhoods whose price of admission is too high for all but the tiniest share of the newcomers.
We have only recently learned the suspect’s name: Not Jan van Dijk or Hans Jansen, unsurprisingly, but Ayoub B. (his last name being withheld by the authorities for the customary privacy reasons). Unconfirmed sources have also reported that this guy had a long rap sheet prior to stabbing random people in the streets of Rotterdam, and may even have been convicted of stabbing and wounding his own mother.
He may also have been a psychiatric patient in one of the Netherlands’ infamous TBS institutions whose primary objective is the rehabilitation of convicted felons into society and decidedly not the protection of said society from the convicted felons. Who knows, a much-needed debate about the merits of the century-old TBS program might make its way to the evening shows, right alongside tedious discussions whether Ayoub was verward or not.
One thing which will, yet again, receive relatively little attention in the media is the fact that Islam and the West are wholly incompatible with one another, and that Islam is the necessary condition underpinning each and every random “lone wolf” knife attack by those “mentally disturbed” souls in the streets of Europe.
